Thank you so much for your kind words, Olga. Yes, heart warming moments for me. I need more and more frequently this kind of positive input especially in these days of horrifying news from all over the world.
BTW: this photo does not have the quality I'm normally trying to achieve, because I could not use both hands :-)

You are NOT alone with this feeling of angst. As the great philospher Plato said "be kind for everyone you meet is fighting their own personal battle."....very true in these times. But know this.......it will pass. At least nature and her beauty provides us with a balm for our troubled souls. Chirp chirp

The amputation of this hand's thumb I find disturbing and am wondering why you cut the photo at this thumb joint. The image is very blurry and out of focus as well, however, the contest is hands and the hand is there and nothing else to interfere.

Wayne-Cheah Beginner — Level 9 says:   gold award

I do agree with a lot of what he said, but wish to add that photography is actually divided in two periods, "BD" & "AD", i.e. "Before Digital" & "After Digital". In the Before Digital world and you don't have a darkroom, (for 90% of photographers), you have to shoot images which you must know at the time you press the shutter button that it, (the images), would turn out at least 90% of the kind, quality you wanted. With a prime lens which is invariably faster and of higher quality glass you are more confident of getting the kind and quality of images you wanted or hoped for. In the period After Digital, where everyone has a "darkroom" with all those affordable and even free-of-charge post-processing software all images could be cropped, enhanced and manipulated, any "standard" zoom would do and, as he said, downright more convenient in terms of the size of your camera bag and therefore its weight. Other than that, I pretty much agree with the rest of what he said.
