Photoshop Contest: Engines

PhotoshopPosted by Staaan

Just like in the previous photoshop contest, you are given a source photo to work with.

Your goal is to manipulate the photo in any way you want and turn it into a work of art. You can use Photoshop or any other digital image manipulation software.

This source photo is one of a plane engine. It was suggested by 'rturnbow' on Pxleyes almost 5 years ago:

You can find a high resolution version of the photo HERE

Be creative, and let's do some old school photo manipulations!

PS: It's very important to vote on every entry, the more votes we get, the more accurate the rankings will be. Also, when you see something on someone's entry that can be improved, let them know. That way, we can learn new skills from each other!

Good luck

Looks like you were playing around with some blend modes. The flowers could benefit from either the distort, warp or liquify tool to match the engine shape. Also the items in the sky look like they are set to maybe screen. To get rid of the box around it you could adjust the black point in levels until the box is no longer visible.

Perfect advice from Chalty669. As a general rule "Screen Mode", or any other blend mode in that section, will only show lighter colors "North" of 50% Grey. "Multiply Mode" or any other blend mode in that section, will only show darker colors "South" of 50% Grey. This image set to "Screen" would only show the white dot, and the opposite for "Multiply" https://cdn.wallpapersafari.com/7/84/b30jxB.jpg. Also, get to know "Blend-If". This is an absolute MUST for Photoshop Compositing and it's pretty easy to learn. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAMXBYx0r5g

Thank you Chalty for your in depth analysis for I come to this side of Grepless to marvel and be awe struck because I find photochopping impossible...I know I know it is step by step and there are many great teachers on this side.
