Today, we are going to do something different. Rather than giving you a theme to work with, you are given a source photo.

This source photo is one of a birdhouse, with a bird on top. It was suggested by Kyricom on Pxleyes 4 years ago:

Your goal is to manipulate the photo in any way you want and turn it into a work of art. You can use Photoshop or any other digital image manipulation software.

You can find a high resolution version HERE

Be creative, and let's do some old school photo manipulations!

PS: It's very important to vote on every entry, the more votes we get, the more accurate the rankings will be. Also, when you see something on someone's entry that can be improved, let them know. That way, we can learn new skills from each other!

Good luck

When you start, you are at level 1. But it doesn't change anything to be at level 1 or at level 1.768. You'll be getting higher and higher as we all do 😉

You did a good job of combining the sources but I think the birdhouse needs to be a bit darker and warmer looking to fit the tone of the scene a bit better. Currently the birdhouse has a cool look to it and the rest has a warmer appearance. The following tutorial is helpful for matching colors in a scene.

Hi George. This was a cool Chop and a cool scene. I rated it highly based on that. I did feel the water was lacking a bit. Check out some tutorials on using Displacement Maps for making water. It's a really weird technique. You can make your own Displacement Map if you like and they end up looking like this https://www.deviantart.com/edchambo/art/Water-Displacement-map-194891272. Also, a cool filter for making water is called "Flood 2" by Flamingpear http://www.flamingpear.com/flood-2.html It's a trial version but I have had it for 2 months and it hasn't expired. I have yet to use it for real, other than just messing around a bit, but I have seen tutorials of someone using it and it seems pretty cool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40jQrKhA_UQ

Thanks Rubber... you know... I thought, will never be in a photoshop contest again... I just got a Photoshop program from a friend from Hungary... pals from pxleyes long time ago.... and he invited me to the contests here in grepless.... this is my first time here... and my first entries... I am an old man... trying to do something I like... I like your input to use Displacement Maps for many things... also filters.... I think I did pretty good... being my first time... I will follow your advice for next contests... and works.... thanks again... your work is also nice.....

OMG I forgot to reply to you. It's good to see your work. I just looked at your portfolio on PxlEyes and you have some nice art. After getting the Flood 2 filter, I may just use that from now on. I like doing things manually and don't like to use 3rd Party Filters, but that one seems to work great. Keep up the good work and keep doing what you love!! Looking forward to more of your Chops.

My cat's nightmare created by Zizounai

The other day, my cat told me about a dream he had... near the sea, there were wooden birds, which were huge and frightened him. I had to take him outside to show him that our garden birds were still made of flesh and bones. He then decided to take another nap. Sources: https://imgur.com/a/vneZu0K
