Older but not better created by Vibeke
Oh dear, I do not like self-portraits, and this has not changed my mind, but as we were going to a party last night and I was all cleaned up it seemed too good a chance not to take one. Yes, we can still go to parties here in New Zealand we are lucky enough to have been able to control Covid, thanks to a strong government and being an island surrounded by a lot of ocean. I did love PXLeyes, still taking lots of photos so should share a few more here. Great to see some old friends and meet some new ones.

My self portrait created by Skyangel
Hi everyone, My name is Angelica. Some of my friends call me Angel. I like to play around with my camera and photoshop manipulations. I am self taught in all areas, learning from my mistakes and learning from many youtube videos which are always very helpful. I appreciate all the people who teach us these things for free. I also dabble in gardening and sewing.
Behind the Paper created by Skyangel
I promised Zizounai an updated version of the woman behind the paper. The sketch on the paper is a computer generated one. If anyone wants to know how to do one of those, search for sketch effect on youtube. There are a few different ways to do them. Then you print your face out on a A4 piece of paper, tear it in half and have some fun with it in your photography.
Painted face created by Skyangel
Painting ones own face is an artistic self portrait. Maybe it can be called surreal since we don't actually walk around the street looking like this? Anyway, Its all natural face paint, not painted in photoshop at all. I put the face paint on my face as well as on the brush and took the photo after two days of frustation and learning how to use my self timer and focusing correctly. This week was the first time I ever used the self timer on my camera. Olga got all my complaining emails about it and I thank her for all her help with tips for focusing on one self when you are nowhere near the camera. Then I obviously changed some of it to BW just so the colored part will be the main focus. So here is the result of an amateur face painting artist taking an amateur photo. π€ͺ

JUST A LITTLE OLDER... created by George55
Hello.... many of you must know my name... I was in pxleyes for a long time.... my favorite place to show my work and meet many good friends. I was born in Mexico. I left my country, and went to live in the USA after my mother died. Looking to get my life together was not easy.... mostly not knowing the language of a foreign country... Went to school to study English, graduated from High School, and studied graphic arts and Graphic design... it was when I was introduced to Photoshop... a very old version... but I loved, and after school, i continued trying to learn the basics... and now... I try to learn more... I am not a Spring chicken any more... I have 72 years and still think with a fresh mind. I came back to my country Mexico after retired in USA. I live with my nephews family now. I am happy to return to my roots... as a matter of fact... did not work with Photoshop for a long time... since pxleyes closed... but a friend of mine, stayed with me... even living far, far away... he helped me to get Photoshop 2021 and it is what I am using now... if you read this.... THANKS SO MUCH.... FOR BEING MY FRIEND.... You know, who you are... Well... let...s do Photoshop... nice to be back....

It's not Texas, but Da Lat, Vietnam where due to CORONA we have been (happily) stuck here. Thanks to Grepless and the friends I have made on this site, being stuck anywhere is just a whole lot more fun.

Time Marches On created by kyricom
On the left is me about 40 years ago. A little while ago I tried to recreate it. I even skipped shaving for a few days, but now my whiskers are all white anyway and you can't really see them. :-)

My wife says I look mean in these. It's not my fault I have "RBF." :-p
Me....times three ! created by Olga.L
Today, March 10th, marks one year of having entered Vietnam. On March 11th, the World Health Organization called a pandemic and our world, as we once knew it changed. We have been (happily) stuck here for one full year. This photo was taken at Crazy House, in Da Lat, Vietnam (the highlands where it is eternally spring-like weather). You can read about this place here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H%E1%BA%B1ng_Nga_Guesthouse
Thanks for asking IEat. I always shoot in raw and process all my photos with Camera raw filter (in Photoshop), to correct lightning, vibrance, contrast etc... then I sometimes crop, straighten them, according to what they need to feel better. For this one I think I suppressed some of the white dirt dots on the window part, for they were too distracting from the main subject, which was Me π
It looks like you hunted around for the perfect frame, and found it. I love the gritty overall texture and your face giving further gravity to the seriousness of composition, you are making a picture, not taking a shot! The harsh white behind you does detract but leaves you in a frame of darkened mystery. The technical elements are well handled since we can all "feel" this photograph, as well as see it.
A work in progress? It looks like you are seriously busy renovating or recycling an old door? It looks like you added a mirror into that door partition? I presume you will paint it eventually? I love the old door handle. I would love to see the finished article when you have it done. Is it going to remain a door or are you turning it into feature mirror? I always like to see old things renovated or restored. It's a shame we can't be renovated or restored to our former days of youth. π΅>πΆ?
Thank you. The door was not mine, it was in a place about 4 miles away from my home. I'll go there on Saturday to check the work progress and tell you all about it π€
Here it is Angelica. Sorry but after all this time the works seem to have stopped. Maybe this house is abandoned. It is in a steep backstreet lane leading to the viaduct. It was raining, very cold, I couldn't see a thing because of all the steam and rain drops on my glasses, I couldn't breathe because of the mask we are obliged to wear in town (I cheated a bit and put it under my nose as you can see). But I was happy to see that this door was still standing after all... https://imgur.com/a/ZbIiPXU and to shoot it for you π
Thanks Ziounai. I appreciate you taking the time and making the huge effort to go and reshoot it. It's a shame they stopped work on it but at least you got another good shot of the old door. It's good to see your reflection in the window again too. You can use that door in plenty of future chops. I seem to be drawn to old worn things. Are you?
I really feel sorry for all you people who are obligated to wear masks in town. I am lucky to live in a rural country area where the population is relatively low so we are not obligated to wear masks where we live but they provide hand santizers at every shop and people are encouraged to remain home if they have any cold or flu symtoms.
Nice to see the face behind the Discord chat!
At least if it is who I assume it is! :)
Being the almighty administrator of this place, don't you have a crystal ball allowing you to break the anonymity shield?
I know the background is fussy, but this was taken by a photographer using my camera at a greek night in a typical village in crete, she was with a couple of other photographers taking photos of all the people at the greek night, because i had the next upgrade of the same camera she had,in between taking photos of people she kept trying to swap her camera for mine,it caused great mirth amongst people there and she took and gave us a free photo, great night.

Retired Life created by grasshopper1
I don't have many pics of me. I'm always taking them of other people. You know how it is. My son took this of me. It is special. I had been real sick, over weight, and in pain for about two years. I decided to do something about it. For the next year I lost over 50 pounds. This is my first time out on my ski after all the weight off. A new start... It had been a long time waiting for it. Now all my checkups come back great. This was just before covid hit.
Stuck in Vietnam created by Olga.L
After New Zealand, Vietnam is the second safest place to be during the COVID pandemic. We feel so fortunate to be in a country that is full of wonderful hospitable kind generous people and exotic food. Vietnam has a population of 97 million. Canada, my home country has a population of 37 million, one third of Vietnam. Yet, Vietnam has had 35 deaths and Canada........22,463.
