The world is filled with items and objects with their names spelled with only 4 letters; shoe, barn, baby, farm, ... and literally thousands more. This contest is designed to get you to appreciate them by taking creative pictures.

Find what you appreciate most with a four-letter word, pull out your camera, take several shots, and upload your best!

The main subject of your photo must represent the 4 letter word. Write this word in the description of your entry, or as a reply. Also, include where the photo was taken. Abstract topics are allowed, but make sure to provide an explanation.

To get some inspiration, have a look at this 'four-letter words' contest on Pxleyes 4 years ago:

It was won by Dmitry with this entry:

YIKES...whole lot of action caught with your high speeding shutter speed. You amputated part of his wing...but it does give the feeling that he is jumping into the frame.

Wayne-Cheah avatarLevel 12
Wayne-Cheah replied to Olga.L :

Quote:- "You amputated part of his wing...." Well, the swan's action was quite unexpected. There was no time to compose properly. I had to fire the shutter instinctively to capture the "decisive moment" when the action was at its peak. Otherwise, the moment is lost.

Olga.L avatarLevel 17
Olga.L replied to Wayne-Cheah :

..........and you did this so well capturing the decisive moment...a second slower or sooner would not have given you the dynamism that we enjoy.

Looks like something out of the series Downton Abbey. I like the two tone wood and recent restoration with contrast of the brickwork's beside it. Should have framed it with equal amounts of brickwork on either side, but, that's just me. Nice shot

Thank you for your comment, I appreciate it. It is good to get your input as to what it was about this photo that caught your eye. This is a photo of a door taken in Galle Sri Lanka. I had to look it up on Google as I had forgotten the name of the town.

Galle is a city on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka. It’s known for Galle Fort, the fortified old city founded by Portuguese colonists in the 16th century. Stone sea walls, expanded by the Dutch, encircle car-free streets with architecture reflecting Portuguese, Dutch and British rule. Notable buildings include the 18th-century Dutch Reformed Church. Galle Lighthouse stands on the fort’s southeast tip. ― Google

Thanks again.

How beautiful simple things can be....well pictured. You follow the KISS principle nicely on this one.

Wayne-Cheah avatarLevel 12Bronze award
Wayne-Cheah replied to Olga.L :

This image was made to symbolize the inevitable growth, decay and death of Nature. The long dead wood "embraces", "comforting" the dying leaf which was in an almost " fetal" position as if wanting to be born and grow again. Sad, but the leaf would become humus eventually and later on to nurture and be part of the new growth of another tree to come.
