Eye close-up

PhotographyPosted by Staaan

Our eyes stay the same size throughout our entire life (unlike the ears and nose, which keep growing)

Its anatomy is staggeringly complex. A myriad of interlocking parts working together in harmony to give us a seamless visual experience.

Even Charles Darwin himself considered the eye to be one of his most challenging aspects of life to explain. Biologists and physicists spend a great deal of time researching the inner workings of the eye.

To this day, research of the eye keeps bringing forward surprises on how the eye and brain process visual data.

Let us capture this magnificent part of our body in a close-up.

The rules are as follows:

  • Eye must be open
  • No glasses can be worn
  • For creatures with 2 eyes, only 1 eye can be shown in the photo
  • For creatures with more than 2 eyes (Eg. starfish, praying mantis, spiders, ... ), more than 1 eye can be visible.
  • The eye can be from an animal or human
  • No toys or fake eyes

Have a look at our Pxleyes contest to get some inpiration:

Good luck!
