It's time to stretch your creativity to the max! To succeed in this contest, you'll need to tap into a variety of skills: graphic design, screenwriting, imagination and creativity.

Tap into your writing skills first and write a plot for a new movie. A story that has never been told before and will keep people hooked to the screen from start to finish. Next, come up with a creative title. A catchy title that perfectly summarizes your plot and arouses curiosity. And lastly, design a movie poster for your masterpiece!

This movie poster will be displayed at all movie theatres in the world and you want to attract as many viewers as possible, so make it eye-catching! You also want the movie critics to praise your plot for authenticity and creativity. The genre of the movie is up to you. Anything from slapstick to horror!

So when voting, evaluate both the quality of the poster and the plot underneath it. Both need to align with each other. The potential of the entire package is what should determine the winner of this contest.

Let's start brainstorming and come up with that million-dollar movie idea! This contest was suggested by Velya.

Good luck!

PS: It's very important to vote on every entry, the more votes we get, the more accurate the rankings will be. Also, when you see something on someone's entry that can be improved, let them know. That way, we can learn new skills from each other!

PS 2: Ideas for future contests can be submitted here. The best ideas will be picked and turned into a contest. Make sure to clearly define the rules and objectives of the contest.

Sorry Skyangel, I tried and tried but couldn't manage to edit my entry with imgur... So I have created a new entry. But I have registered your comment before deleting and here it is:
"I think this movie would come under the mystery genre since it remains a mystery as to who or what "the apple of his eye" might have been and why any artist might have created a statue of a skeleton and placed a real apple in its hand. The text has everything needed on a poster and is easily readable. The only thing that looks wrong is that ear. It looks out of place because it is a fleshly ear on a skeleton and besides that, it is in the wrong place. It appears to be on the back of the head instead of on the side where it is supposed to be. See the circular gap near the top of the jaw bone? That is the "external acoustic meatus" and that is where the ear should be if you want to add the fleshly ear at all. https://i.pinimg.com/564x/6b/10/7c/6b107c973b3b258b210f52e58894dbee.jpg
Personally I would leave the fleshly ear out and just cover the area with hair so the skull looks like it's wearing a wig but you are the artist and you might have good reasons for putting that ear where you did?"

Zizounai avatarLevel 16
Zizounai replied to self:

So, Skyangel, thank you for your comment. I really felt something was wrong but couldn't find where it was, and you got it spot on. I have now placed the ear in its rightful external acoustic meatus, as I couldn't see any reason for it to be anywhere else. I also took off the fleshy part of the nose which bothered me a bit. As a reminder, here is the previous entry:

all right, here's a silly question, why accentuate the ear when it's titled the apple of his eye?

Zizounai avatarLevel 16
Zizounai replied to retired :

Don't feel silly Retired please, just be silly ๐Ÿฅด I didn't wish to accentuate the ear but only to leave it there, as it gives a kind of balance to the composition. I feel attracted to this ear, please don't try to find in it a relation with the title though. It would be rather unnecessary in understanding the poster or even the story the movie would tell, for they result in heavy bypassed semiotics and become something more than symbols that passively awaits deciphering ๐Ÿ˜

Another member has been encouraging me and some others to comment on entries so I am merely obliging her. Some members enjoy the interaction and like to know what viewers think about their art regardless of whether the reaction seems good or bad or indifferent. We can always learn something from viewers comments, even if it's only about different points of view and different tastes so I would like to encourage you and other viewers to comment as well and let people know what you like or don't like about their work. Maybe you can give helpful tips for improvement to a few? That way we can all learn from each other and hopefully improve our work.

I think a movie about the frustrations of a photo manipulator would appeal to a very restricted audience. It does not give a clear story line so if he is just sitting at a computer and doing photo manipulations, it would seem more like watching a tutorial than a movie.
You did a good job of adding all the 3D elements from pixelsquid and I see you have added credits to the poster but I think lightening up the text at the bottom would make it easier to read.

This seems to be about some kind of revenge. It leaves us wondering about who is seeking revenge and why do they want it. It is a mystery as to what a skull and butterfly has to do with this revenge. It makes us curious as to what the story line might be. You did a great job of the text, including all credits and making it easy to read. Well done.

This seems to be a poster about a dark horror movie. The mention of Satan makes me presume that the plot has a lot of evil things going on throughout the movie. Your text is clear and stands out which makes it easy to read. The only thing you are missing is the credits, names of the director and the actors, etc.

A love story about someone waiting for three hours for a call and getting shot for three hours? How does anyone shoot another person for three hours and why? I think it only takes one bullet to kill someone with a real bullet and that doesn't take 3 hours. It makes me wonder if his movements and reactions was being secretly shot with a hidden camera which would explain the deceit? It's an excellent play on words which leaves the reader wondering. Your movie title is well done. The white outline makes it easily readable. The sentence under it is also easy to read but the credits at the bottom need a brighter font which contrasts with the dark background. Dark on dark is very hard to read.

Zizounai avatarLevel 16
Zizounai replied to Skyangel :

Thanks Skyangel for your comment (and all your comments by the way, you made several people happy today). I blurred the credits on purpose as they belonged to another movie, I just took off some too popular names which had nothing to do there and added my "actor" name which is Andy Mandigo. And... hoooooops... by shooting I didn't mean with a gun or any weapon, but with... a camera ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ˜

A movie about a man who can walk through walls into photos or paintings seems like it is in a fantasy adventure genre. It makes me wonder what adventures he will find along that road and whether he will just walk through the one painting or does he go through more of them? You have a good clear title and the name of the main characters but you have not included other credits which are generally found on a movie poster.

This seems to be a poster about an up and coming mystery movie which I suspect from the dagger on the poster, might include a murder but I am curious as to who gets murdered, how and why a man ends up stuck in an elevator? Maybe he is the murderer or is he the one who gets murdered? I also think it might be a musical or have a lot of music through the movie. I get that impression from the musical notes and harp. The rose seems to be the main focal point though and it remains a mystery as to what is so important about the rose which appears to be melting or dripping paint? The thing that is missing from the poster according to the suggestions on the added link, is "the name of the director, names of main actors or characters, the release date and a billing block".
Your characters can be names of real actors or imaginary names but I think all posters include those credits.
