it's happening......but not with a human in it :)
I love this piece. I like the colors, the idea, the composition. But when I started to look at it longer, something seemed wrong.
I think it's the lighting. The sun is in the back behind the clouds and lights up the field from back to front. But the girl and especially her umbrella pop because a bright white light is shining on them from the front. I think when you laid the girl images over the field image you didn't change the lighting direction on the girl. I just had to do the same thing on one of the pieces I submitted tonight.
Good luck...and keep up the good work.
A beautiful piece,Van Gogh ish from his very early years when he was using earth colors such as raw umber, raw sienna. :)
Yes and thank you. I am glad we started the photoshop back up...I really missed them.
Lol...no, it's all based on cognitive dissonance."Cognitive dissonance can make people feel uneasy and uncomfortable, particularly if the disparity between their beliefs and behaviors involves something that is central to their sense of self. For example, behaving in ways (or forced to behave)that are not aligned with your personal values which result in feelings of intense discomfort."
The picture I made, that is in the frame, is a piece inspired by the artist Man Ray. (Re: iron with nails on it)
Now if you applied that to the recent (last 4 years)political scene, you see the man(me) wrestling with the idea of "...government behaving in ways that are not aligned with your personal values that result in intense feelings of great discomfort." 4 frames=4 years,3 a have Dada art in them(3 years completed),
1 is yet to have an picture installed which will be installed jan20,2021.
It all looks like a dream,(nightmare) for the one in the picture. :) A nightmare, that is now starting to fade.
As per:.."design an entry that represents what 2020 meant to you. What stood out? What had an impact on your personal life? "
Four frames means 4 years not in order. Just 3 completed and one is not......yet...it's was still 2020 as of the time of completion of the piece.
Anyway....thanks for your comment :)
Manifest Destiny: Democracy As Cognitive Dissonance by William Engdahl in reference to George Orwells novel 1984 ".. fictional account of a state which imposes cognitive dissonance on its citizens to control their perception of reality" (sound familiar?)
The baby bottle, the nipples have pins and nails through them. There are no order to the picture frames, only that one is missing an insert/pic.
or 3 years are over/ 3 frames are filled. The piece was completed 12,31,20. So the 4th frame is.....
Add the title, then look at the pictures, what are the pictures and what do they represent/or how do you feel when you view them ?
I think ..... you should title it "When Life was Normal"
Nah..not a philosopher..just an old guy that has been around the block some :)
Could this be taken as a "juxtaposition"? The contrast between your image and your comment.."life as normal"?
If it is then it brings new life to how I go forward in viewing it. :)
