I don't like that idea because you're not as free to be artistic if it's such a narrow range like these... using the contests to make money will turn up bad art. These are good ideas on their own, but rather more for single entries, rather than a whole contest.

yup, its pretty amazing I must agree. Maybe you could call it a Marmaid.
This is a marmot. But they have been saddened with unbearable grief, because their child died in a terrible mining accident. They cried so much their body could only compensate by becoming a fish, to deal with the salty tearwater.
This is why the marmot has a fish's head. And people say, they must be looking for their deceased child. But some people say, they must be looking for a new habitat.
Its hard being a marmot with a fish's head.
