My best guess!..... shadow distortion caused by the sun's angle across the top of the leaf.

No it is not a composite nor altered,
This leaf was placed in a bowl of water placed outside in the late morning sunlight.
Multiple shots, hand held, were taken from different angles capturing natural effects. The glow is simply a reflection of the sun through the water shadowed by the leaf and is a bit of an optical illusion and quite accidental.
This was the best of 5 angles in that it contained all the interesting elements of bubbles, shadows, halos as well as enhancing the details leaf itself.
I dont often do setups as I like spontaneity and candid images. But this was setup in my spontaneous sort of way. Glad it peaked your curiosity! :D
