As many may have noticed, we have our owner photoshop corner here on Grepless. A place where we can talk Photoshop and Photoshop only! Ironically, Adobe Illustrator or any other vector program could come in handy for making a mascot! This could be a good opportunity to learn more about vector graphics.

PS: this contest has been extended for 2 days! Remember guys, the mascot will be put in the navigation bar on top, so its colors should take that into account. I put the hex codes of those colors at the bottom of this post.

Tutsplus tutorial for this mascot is linked below
— Tutsplus tutorial for this mascot is linked below —

A dedicated mascot would make a welcome addition to the logo (which is only visible here, positioned between the logo and the word 'photoshop'). The winner of this contest will receive a $50 Amazon gift card!

An alien, animal, person, emoji, ... or anything creative that you can think of that would make a nice mascot for a community of digital artists.

The image you post here should be in JPG or PNG format, but ideally you also have an SVG that scales nicely. If you are not using vector graphics, make sure the resolution of your bitmap image is large enough, so our little mascot can be displayed properly on all devices.

The mascot should NOT contain any text or logos. This is just about the mascot itself.

Let's get creative and turn this community into a more personal, comfy space, with our own little mascot!

Here are some good tutorials to get you started:

Good luck!

PS: in previous contests, we noticed not everyone votes on all entries. If you can find the time, vote on all entries, not just the ones you like. The more votes we collect, the happier we can be with the results!

PS: These are the website color hex codes: #0a578d (website blue) #FFBB00 (website yellow) #257CDC (photoshop community color)

The Chopper created by Skyangel

Made from scratch in photoshop using vector shapes, stroked paths, and adjustment layers including pattern and texture overlays. The original rough sketch is .... https://i.imgur.com/wW39863.jpg I decided to replace the bucket with a brush for various reasons. A half finished version is... https://i.imgur.com/ET5mMh8.jpg. It seems so far we have three people who like the axe and two who don't. Not sure if Staaan does or doesn't like the axe. His comment about the mascot looking nice without any tools confused me. If it wins Staaan can choose whether he wants to use the lasso or axe version. Both are available in PNG but I doubt this will win anyway. There are so many great entries. I really appreciate all the comments though. It's interesting to read the different reactions to the different versions.

Hi Staaan, I changed the background to the color code you provided but it still doesnt look right quite right on my screen but I do have a transparent PNG version as well. I think the blue bar at the top of the page is a gradient which goes from dark on the left to lighter on the right and that's why no solid color background will look right. I changed the axe for a lasso since some people don't like the axe. We all use the lasso and paintbrush in PS. Immediately made the connect with the axe. Great idea. Well done for approximating the blue background which it will sit against whichever one is chosen. I'm a little concerned as it scales down for the page if the blue footwear and paint on the brush will be somewhat lost against the background.

Swordfighting, eh? I presume you belong to a club where people enjoy living dangerously? It's definitely not a sport which will ever be on my bucket list. I admire your courage.

You couldn't fool me, no way, no how. I see your thought process that went into this presentation, a chameleon (of course) changes his colours to suit the situation and we "choppers" at grepless photochop section do this with an artist's brush and artist's touch. Clever, very clever post.

The flood fill bucket has a very cute face and is easily recognizable as belonging to photoshop but the criteria specifially states no logo with the mascot and you have the PS logo on the mat under the bucket. Maybe you should remove that and leave the mat a plain color or just add a bucket shadow to the floor? It would be a shame to lose points due to the ps logo.

Very creative and convincing. My only concern is if as I understand the mascot will sit on the blue header between the words 'Grepless' and 'Photoshop' will it retain its detail. Have you tried seeing it against the blue backdrop.

More contrast might help but it's a great relative mascot.
