Photo Contest: The Sun

PhotographyPosted by Staaan

An almost perfect sphere in the center of our solar system, 4.6 billion years old and over 100 times bigger than Earth. The mass of the sun is estimated to take up more than 99% of all the mass in our solar system.

It is the source that will keep our planet spinning and provides us with the energy needed to support life.

In this contest, we are going to photograph this massive celestial body!

Here is the full contest if you need some inspiration

The rules are simple:

  • The sun has to be at least partially visible (20+%). So no photos of just sunrays.
  • The photo can consist of anything you want (people, objects, animals,... ), as long as the sun is part of it.
  • For the sake of your own sight: do not look into your camera when it's pointed directly at the sun. There are solar filters you can buy that will help you.

If you have no experience photographing the sun, here is an interesting article that explains how you can get started: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/explora/photography/tips-and-solutions/how-to-photograph-the-sun

Good luck!

I took this photo in Hyderabad sometime in 2012, I actually don't remember if I used my mobile phone or the point n shoot camera.
