In psychology, the empty chair technique is used in counseling sessions to help a patient open up and recreate emotions about circumstances in their current life. The patient sits across an empty chair and imagines the chair is used by a person in their life or a past version of themselves.
This allows them to reveal their emotions without actually hurting the feelings of the person they are talking to. After that, the patient sits in the empty chair and responds to himself as the other person.
A psychologist or therapist can use this technique to help release cropped up feelings in a patient.
This contest is all about that empty chair. Try to take a photo of a chair that goes beyond the actual chair. Take a photo of a chair that captures emotion and tells a story. If there is a backstory, please also include it in a reply to your photo.
