Older but not better created by Vibeke
Oh dear, I do not like self-portraits, and this has not changed my mind, but as we were going to a party last night and I was all cleaned up it seemed too good a chance not to take one. Yes, we can still go to parties here in New Zealand we are lucky enough to have been able to control Covid, thanks to a strong government and being an island surrounded by a lot of ocean. I did love PXLeyes, still taking lots of photos so should share a few more here. Great to see some old friends and meet some new ones.

My self portrait created by Skyangel
Hi everyone, My name is Angelica. Some of my friends call me Angel. I like to play around with my camera and photoshop manipulations. I am self taught in all areas, learning from my mistakes and learning from many youtube videos which are always very helpful. I appreciate all the people who teach us these things for free. I also dabble in gardening and sewing.
Behind the Paper created by Skyangel
I promised Zizounai an updated version of the woman behind the paper. The sketch on the paper is a computer generated one. If anyone wants to know how to do one of those, search for sketch effect on youtube. There are a few different ways to do them. Then you print your face out on a A4 piece of paper, tear it in half and have some fun with it in your photography.
Painted face created by Skyangel
Painting ones own face is an artistic self portrait. Maybe it can be called surreal since we don't actually walk around the street looking like this? Anyway, Its all natural face paint, not painted in photoshop at all. I put the face paint on my face as well as on the brush and took the photo after two days of frustation and learning how to use my self timer and focusing correctly. This week was the first time I ever used the self timer on my camera. Olga got all my complaining emails about it and I thank her for all her help with tips for focusing on one self when you are nowhere near the camera. Then I obviously changed some of it to BW just so the colored part will be the main focus. So here is the result of an amateur face painting artist taking an amateur photo. 🤪

JUST A LITTLE OLDER... created by George55
Hello.... many of you must know my name... I was in pxleyes for a long time.... my favorite place to show my work and meet many good friends. I was born in Mexico. I left my country, and went to live in the USA after my mother died. Looking to get my life together was not easy.... mostly not knowing the language of a foreign country... Went to school to study English, graduated from High School, and studied graphic arts and Graphic design... it was when I was introduced to Photoshop... a very old version... but I loved, and after school, i continued trying to learn the basics... and now... I try to learn more... I am not a Spring chicken any more... I have 72 years and still think with a fresh mind. I came back to my country Mexico after retired in USA. I live with my nephews family now. I am happy to return to my roots... as a matter of fact... did not work with Photoshop for a long time... since pxleyes closed... but a friend of mine, stayed with me... even living far, far away... he helped me to get Photoshop 2021 and it is what I am using now... if you read this.... THANKS SO MUCH.... FOR BEING MY FRIEND.... You know, who you are... Well... let...s do Photoshop... nice to be back....

It's not Texas, but Da Lat, Vietnam where due to CORONA we have been (happily) stuck here. Thanks to Grepless and the friends I have made on this site, being stuck anywhere is just a whole lot more fun.

On the left is me about 40 years ago. A little while ago I tried to recreate it. I even skipped shaving for a few days, but now my whiskers are all white anyway and you can't really see them. :-)
YOU MUST KNOW YOUR BEAUTY
Never give up!
If something doesn’t go that way, then it will go that way. If you don't go today, then go tomorrow.
If you can't jump high anymore, it's okay. Say it, oops, and walk up the sidewalk.
Man dies little by little. With what you give up, you threw a piece of yourself into the mine.
Never forget to laugh!
Laughter is the best prevention against all diseases (except coughs).
Don't forget to laugh - at yourself.
Man is sometimes clumsy and does stupid things. Finished single cabaret. You can laugh at yourself for free.
Never polish yourself!
Especially in front of your relatives, neighbors and acquaintances.
They already have a picture of you in them anyway, and you don't have time to change that.
And then why?
Never give up on anything!
Indulge yourself in pleasures. If you want something, get it.
Costs money? So what? You have saved enough in your life, your desire is no longer a luxury yacht. Make that half pound of strawberries or that bottle of good wine embrace you without remorse!
Never let yourself be looted!
Your children, grandchildren, relatives will live without you. Don’t give up on yourself because of their needs.
Let them fight, as you once did.
You are never old to anything!
Don’t be ashamed if you’ve fallen in love with someone, if you’re new to the computer now, if you buy an unusual-looking outfit. Of course, behave according to your age, because if you are very laughing, society will take it out of itself. Because society is older and more mischievous than you are.
Never just plan for tomorrow!
Have long-term plans. This is not a question of money.
Write your memoirs (or say them on a voice recorder) and don’t worry if your first sentences are awkward because your story will bring out the performance in you.
Vacation where you live. People pay a fortune to look at your city through the eyes of a tourist. Look at it, it's almost free for you.
Take advantage of your opportunities and train once a year. Remember, you can always find new things.
If you’re an atheist, listen to a Mass, if you’re a Christian, go to a synagogue, and if you’re a Jew, look around the Basilica.
Never think that life is unfair!
Don’t you think you would have had more, but if you did, it doesn’t matter today? This was thrown out by the machine. Shrug your shoulders and gather the beautiful moments, the uplifting moments, and remember those you loved. Love life because that’s the only way you can leave with calm dignity once, in the hopefully distant future.
Then we are reborn!
This image of yours had such a strong impact on me that I had to call my husband over to see it. I love the thoughts you put into this post. You hunted around for the past and found it ....to be placed beside the present. It is a wonderful impactful image. I also enjoyed reading your writing very much for it sounds like you are in love with life....as am I. You have become wiser and have worn life well.
Regarding the two images. How thoughtful that the older version of you is set on a well worn background and you are wearing a wedding band. The two yellow t-shirts are noted as well....a photograph (collage of two) made creatively. There is a story of life here. You seem to have found the fountain of youth and that is your creative mind. THANK YOU for your post. Top marks.
We all age and look different to when we were younger, fact of life think its in your mind where you need to stay young, adapt as you go through life and you won,t go wrong.
Its good you decided to do this as it means you can look at life in a humourous way[no bad thing]i am also of the opinion that being interested in photography also gives you a good insight of life and human nature and in the right circumstances gives you as a person a unique perspective on things and therefore in its own way keeps you young in mind, nice overall image this.
You are who you are, a nice, friendly person... Of course.... beauty of the body in a man, does not remains forever.... our bodies change through the years... All of us were young and filled with energy.... Time tells us a story.... we grow up one day at the time, and we achieve the best we can take from it. At the end.... the beauty of our acts and love will go with us.... Nice pics by the way.... same smile... same guy.... same friendly face..... welcome and nice to see you again my friend....

Me....times three ! created by Olga.L
Today, March 10th, marks one year of having entered Vietnam. On March 11th, the World Health Organization called a pandemic and our world, as we once knew it changed. We have been (happily) stuck here for one full year. This photo was taken at Crazy House, in Da Lat, Vietnam (the highlands where it is eternally spring-like weather). You can read about this place here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H%E1%BA%B1ng_Nga_Guesthouse
I know the background is fussy, but this was taken by a photographer using my camera at a greek night in a typical village in crete, she was with a couple of other photographers taking photos of all the people at the greek night, because i had the next upgrade of the same camera she had,in between taking photos of people she kept trying to swap her camera for mine,it caused great mirth amongst people there and she took and gave us a free photo, great night.

Retired Life created by grasshopper1
I don't have many pics of me. I'm always taking them of other people. You know how it is. My son took this of me. It is special. I had been real sick, over weight, and in pain for about two years. I decided to do something about it. For the next year I lost over 50 pounds. This is my first time out on my ski after all the weight off. A new start... It had been a long time waiting for it. Now all my checkups come back great. This was just before covid hit.
Stuck in Vietnam created by Olga.L
After New Zealand, Vietnam is the second safest place to be during the COVID pandemic. We feel so fortunate to be in a country that is full of wonderful hospitable kind generous people and exotic food. Vietnam has a population of 97 million. Canada, my home country has a population of 37 million, one third of Vietnam. Yet, Vietnam has had 35 deaths and Canada........22,463.
