Photo Contest: Going Low

Photography Posted by Staaan

In the second contest, let's deviate from taking our photographs standing up. This time we're taking photos from a low position.

Get on your tummy, lay on your back, or squat down. Get that camera as low as you can and take a photo. Think of how a bug would see the world!

Top 3 finishers received a badge on their profile.

Michael, what an underview of this glorious mushroom! You caught a great wave and have mezmerized the viewer. This has a great dance feel to it, it is exciting and the yellow shade just adds to the emotive quality.

egads, that cat looks spoiled and loved. The blue chair and lamp growing out of his head makes it look like a crown, like he is royalty!

I said "Cheeeeese" and it worked :-)

Olga.L replied to colorpicker :

What was in the cheese....valium? How did you get so close? If this was any sharper we would cut ourselved on it....simply gorgeous photograph. The "eye catch" is perfect....did you use layer with added blue technique on this?

colorpicker avatarLevel 9
colorpicker replied to Olga.L :

Thanks a lot for your kind comment. Some years ago I made friends with the parents of this cute creature and I meet them every day in a public park when waking my dog (hot :-)))) ). Always with some treats. That's why I can get that close. Other people trying to approach the fledglings would suffer severe attacks by the adult crows. No, I did not use any layer. All little crows have blue eyes and love cheese :-)))))

Do you use high pass filter to bring out the details? Great on the eye too. Just a cute photo. Did you know that these sparrows are very intelligent and have a hiererarchy with captains bossing the others around! (I've been too long in lockdown)

colorpicker replied to Olga.L :

Yes, Olga, I did a slight sharping. Stay safe and take care!

The focal point is really great, nice and sharp with good colour saturation. Do you think a composition with a bias towards the side (using the thirds rule) would have made this image stronger? I like the breezy feel of this shot.

Marina08 avatarLevel 7
Marina08 replied to Olga.L :

Thanks for your comment. I know it would be more nice with the thirds rules but with the autofocus of my camera this is a tricky task.

Olga.L avatarLevel 16
Olga.L replied to Marina08 :

You can sometimes do this with cropping which can be used as an artistic tool.

A natural and spontaneous snap. You put the camera to the ground and shot?

Nice and sharp and where is this? I am not sure if this is a bug's view because it feels like a bellybutton view.
