Selective coloring has been made popular by Ansel Adams. He knew the human eye is automatically attracted to brighter parts of a photograph. He used this knowledge to put emphasis on certain subjects in his photos. He figured this out in his darkroom where he processed his landscape photos.

In this contest we're going to do a variation of that, but with modern tools of course! You can either take a color photo and turn part of it into grayscale. Or, you can take a grayscale photo and manually colorize part(s) of it.

The end result should be the same. A photo that is in grayscale for at least 50% and uses color to put emphasis on the parts that you consider most important.

Good luck!

Seeing Mt saint Helens was always on my to do list. Finally all grown up I was able to make the trip to go see it. I was so thrilled it was a beautiful sunny day when we go there.
