This button allows you to award other commenters for saying something that you consider valuable. Note that these awards are not the ones you have earned. They are separate awards available just for giving away to people.
Each first day of the month, everyone gets a fixed amount of gold, silver and bronze awards to give away. The higher your level on the website, the more awards you will be assigned to give away.
These awards will eventually get monetary value, so they are scarce by design. Only users who are active and increased their level will receive these on the first day of the month.
More types of awards will be made available over time.
