Q: Hello Rubén and welcome to pxleyes.com community. Please tell us a few words about yourself.

My name is Rubén Belloso and I was born in Seville in 1986. I'm 25 years old. I have a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Seville.
I received several academic awards, such as: the Prize for the best record Faculty of Fine Arts in Seville, 2010, Special End of Career Faculty Award of fine arts of Seville, 2009 / 2010. Also University Award "Real Maestranza of Caballería of Seville", corresponding to the year 2009 / 2010 I have participated in numerous group exhibitions, both nationally and internationally.
I have had solo exhibitions in galleries throughout Italy, Spain and Portugal. I have received several awards among them 1° Prize Girault in the First International Biennial of Pastel in Spain, the 2 nd Prize Gruas Lozano in 2009 and the 1st Award Juan Robles Youth values Culture in 2010 .
My work has appeared in numerous media: newspapers, radio and TV.

Q: Your artwork is extremely realistic and detailed. Simply wonderful! When and how did you discover this talent of yours?

Since I was a kid I liked drawing but it was not until the age of 17 when I really started painting.

Q: What kind of materials do you use?

I always use pastel. It is a technique that is between drawing and painting. Unfortunately not valued as it should be, but offers endless possibilities.

Q: Do you work with models or out of your imagination?

For my artwork I take photographs of other people and then draw them.
Normally I paint homeless, destitute. It's very difficult for them to accept to be painted as they are in real life in my studio. Sometimes they only allow me to take one photo.

Q: Does it take talent or just a lot of practice to become this good?

I think the practice is everything. Or at least 90%.

Q: You're a true professional in your art field. Please share some of your secrets with the people just starting up with this.

Do not be discouraged when something does not go right the first time. Another tip is: Do your work thinking about yourself, not thinking about whether others will like it or not.
